Treasury Minister defends centralisation of services

Some schools on the Island have been paying different prices for the same service or product.

That’s the admission from the Treasury Minister who has defended a new policy of centralising shared services in order to save money.

The issue has been raised repeatedly by Michael MHK Alf Cannan who believes local suppliers will be affected with schools no longer in full control of their budgets.

Catering is moving to the Department of Health and Social Care – with no formal arrangements in place as to where food and other supplies have to come from.
