Two competitions took place at Ayre Clay Target Club’s Blue Point Range on Saturday and Sunday.

The Top Spec Fencing sponsored Olympic Skeet and Olympic Trap were both shot over two days, with the Saturday leg of the competition taking place in very windy conditions, as reflected in the low scores achieved by everyone.

Dave Clague took the win over 125 targets in the Skeet, scoring 90/125.  James Bradley was second on 89 with Jeff Corkill third on 86.  Corkill beat Stan Cross in the six man final gold match with Clague beating Bradley for bronze.  In the 50 target league shoot which was shot concurrently with the Sunday leg, Bradley took the win with 42/50 from Clague on 41.  Corkill and Cross were joint third with 36.

Neil Parsons won the 125 Trap shoot by a clear margin, shooting 93/125.  David Walton was second on 83 with Jeff Fargher in third on 79.  Fargher was the victor in the gold medal competition, beating Parsons into silver.  Robert Watterson took the bronze from his uncle Wilfy Walton.  Walton also won the league competition with 43/50 from Parsons in second on 39 with Fargher coming in third on 35.

This week’s shoot is the first English Skeet league competition, kindly sponsored by Penketh-Millar Architectural Design.  At the same time a 100 league will be shot with prizes at the end of the season, sponsored by Ted Kermeen.
