Government is trying to divert attention from its own failings and attempting to use ratepayer funds as a ‘piggy bank’.
That’s the accusation being levelled at the Department of Infrastructure by Onchan Commissioners.
It is the latest local authority to criticise a consultation on waste management which it describes as ‘flawed’ and without foundation.
The department is looking at alternative ways of waste management and believes savings could be made by amalgamating the service.
Chief executive Malcolm Hulme disputes this and says more discussion is needed:
