The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Fita 3 Spot round as part of the Club’s Handicap League. This involves shooting 60 arrows at three target faces arranged vertically, scoring from 10 to 6. The Junior archers shoot on a single target face scoring 10 to 1. The scores are then adjusted by handicap to obtain the overall result.

Danny Cowin had a terrific day adding 58 to his personal best for the scratch score and taking second place on the podium. Adrien Breed also had a good day adding 37 to his pb and finishing in fourth place after the handicap was applied. Dave Moore put in the highest scratch Compound score of the day, adding 1 point to his pb and taking third place after handicapping. The star of the day was young Joseph Reaney (apologies to Joseph for mis-spelling his surname for weeks) in only his fourth ever shoot and his first attempt at the Fita, he recorded a score of 304 which after handicap gave him the win by a colossal margin.

Highest Recurve scratch score went to Tony Hartley but he had to settle for ninth place because of the handicap. Aalin George had to stop after she had completed half the round due to equipment failure but had done enough for handicap purposes.

Also shooting at the weekend was Junior Recurver James Hill. As it was his first Sunday he shot on the larger Portsmouth target. After a slow start he finished strongly and we look forward to seeing more of him on Sundays.
