Struggle to reduce hospital waiting list continues

Reducing waiting lists at the hospital is proving 'increasingly difficult' and significant investment is needed to rectify the problem.

That's according to the Department of Health which is blaming a lack of resources.

In 2011 a working group was set up to evaluate demand and capacity in the health service - yesterday the group updated Tynwald Members on the progress being made.

It found that while some waiting times for outpatients have been lowered - waiting times remain high for specialities like dermatology and ENT, and others have increased - such as pain management.
