Some MHKs are deliberately trying to ‘derail’ plans to reform the Island’s political boundaries.

That’s the view of the Chief Minister who has criticised a huge raft of what he calls ‘irrelevant’ amendments tabled for the House of Keys today.

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson is attempting to alter a number of clauses of the Representation of the People Bill.

If the Bill is passed in its current form it would see the Island split into 12 equal constituencies – each with two MHKs – in an effort to make things more democratic.
