MHK refutes claims he's trying to delay new political boundaries

Rushen MHK Juan Watterson has branded claims that he’s trying to delay changes to the Island’s political boundaries as ‘rubbish’.

He’s tabled numerous amendments to the clauses of the Representation of the People Act which is being discussed in the House of Keys today.

The Chief Minister says it’s an attempt to derail the whole policy which, if successfully implemented, would see 12 equal constituencies each with two MHKs.

Allan Bell says delaying things at this stage means the Bill could get referred to a committee and is at risk of not being in place before the next election.
