Government says it is committed to helping grow the local food sector but needs help from everyone in the supply chain.
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says it needs cooperation and commitment to achieve the goal over the next few years.
In support of this it has launched the Tomorrow’s Farmer Award in an effort to identify the best farmers on the Island.
It wants to reward farmers who have demonstrated efficient and profitable farming, promotion of local food and demonstrated innovative farm diversification.
Nominations are now open. The closing date is March 28th.
