The Health Care Professionals Bill 2014 is receiving its first reading in today's House of Keys sitting.
It's looking to bring in a process of re-validation for doctors, with their fitness to practise set to come under scrutiny by the Medical Council every five years.
The Bill will also confirm the requirement for various health care professionals to be registered with their professional regulatory body in the UK.
This will add chiropractors and osteopaths practising on the Island to the list of professionals who must be registered.
Health Minister David Anderson says the bill is ultimately about increasing the level of confidence the public can have in health care professionals working on the Island.
