The power of today’s storm surge waves has washed away significant parts of the sea walls in Douglas, Ramsey and Castletown.
The tides reached their peak around 1.50pm, coupled with strong winds driving the waves.
The Department of Infrastructure’s works teams have been engaged in a major cleanup operation since the water levels dropped earlier this afternoon.
As well as the damaged sea walls there is property water damage and debris in the roads.
The majority of the roads have all since reopened, with areas of Douglas and Castletown promenade expected to reopen shortly.
