The Fire and Rescue Service says a large fire at a compost production business in St Johns could burn for days.
Several tons of compost is alight at Ballaneven Compost on the Poortown Road.
The materials spontaneously combusted on Tuesday and the strong winds are now fanning the flames.
The fire comes at a great cost to business owner John Kneen who says the material was due to be shredded to be sold over the coming months.
The blaze is being managed and doesn't pose any threat to buildings, land or livestock in the area.
Firefighters say the fire and smoke will be visible for miles while they're being whipped up by the winds.
