The Island has been placed on a 'red' alert today with the weather expected to be worse than yesterday.
Conditions are set to deteriorate throughout the day as high tides and strong winds, of up to 60 mph, combine to create significant storm surges.
The high tides are at 12.20pm with the worst affected areas likely to be Douglas, Castletown, Laxey and Ramsey.
Significant tidal flooding is expected as waves reach over 8 metres high and break over sea defences and promenades.
Contingency plans are in place and people have been asked to take steps to protect their property and vehicles.
