League 5

RL360 Rushen C 2 Citywing Vikings C 14

The fifth match of the season for Rushen resulted in a convincing 14-2 victory for  Vikings  at Castle Rushen High School. Rushen made a promising start with second mens Nick Fullerton and Thomas Harmstone winning 21/16 21/12 against Roy McLean and Alex Buck, but the set remained the only win of the night for the club. First mens  began with a close game with Vikings Derek Gray and Matthew Bruce winning 21/18 against David Leigh and Jonny Weir but the Rushen pair suffered a heavy defeat in the second game and could not capitalise on the early win in the first match of the night.  DL

Men’s Leagues

League 1

Duncan Lawrie Selborne A 192 Citywing Vikings A 245

Vikings started off well with a 21/14 21/10 win for Kevin Harding and Steve Allen over Stuart Foley and John Cretney.  Matthew Nicholson and Mark Falconer edged a close first game against Steven Quayle and Roy Wilson 21/20 before the Selborne pair played a good tactical game to win the next 21/14.  Vikings then took control of the match to win the remaining games to give them a 245/192 win in what is a very finely balanced league.
