Archery Report

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

The IoM Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Worcester round as part of the Club’s Handicap league. The round consists of 60 arrows shot in groups of five at a black and white target face. The zones score from 5 down to 1 and the maximum score possible is 300.

Numbers were down a little on recent weeks, with Aalin and Kirsten George away on GB Squad training and Charlotte and Barbara Harris laid low with a virus.

The standard of shooting was generally high as it has been all season. Three of the archers recorded new personal best scores – Jack Tyrer, Josh Trafford and Rhys Moore. Jack not only added 28 points to his pb but also took first place after adjustments were made by handicap. Rhys took second place and Rob Lott’s pb equalling score was good enough for third. Dave Moore also shot a personal best equalling score of 300 to record the highest scratch score of the day. Dave then went on to shoot another Worcester round in the afternoon dropping only two points. His score for the Double Worcester was 598. After the handicap was applied Dave finished fourth.

Results Worcester Handicap – 1.Jack Tyrer 1458 (57 186 13)pb, 2.Rhys Moore 1447 (59 263 34)pb, 3.Rob Lott 1443 (60 247 24), 4.Dave Moore 1441 (60 300 60), 5.Sarah Rigby 1439 (60 299 59), 6.Pete Mumford 1438 (60 298 58), 7.Karen Lott 1435 (60 272 37), =7.Billy Lightfoot 1435 (59 292 56), 9.Tony Hartley 1431 (60 272 34), 10.Josh Trafford 1430 (60 220 11)pb, 11.Colin Moore 1428 (59 284 48), 12.Joy Gough 1423 (58 281 49), 13.Bradley Layton 1410 (59 226 14), 14.Danny Cowin 1404 (59 211 17).

Jack Tyrer’s score for last week’s Fita 18 Handicap was accidentally omitted from the results. His score of 56 321 0 added 14 to his pb and when adjusted by handicap his overall score of 1465 put him in second place.

Good luck to all the archers who are travelling to England to compete at the weekend.
