Archery Report

Thu, 16 Jan 2014

The Isle of Man Archery Club were relieved to find the heating problems at their Onchan venue had been resolved when they met on Sunday to compete. The round of the day was a Fita 18 – 60 arrows shot at a distance of 18m. The round was shot as part of the Club’s Handicap League.

There was a good turnout and six of the competitors set new personal best scores. Josh Trafford put in another good performance to add 53 points to his pb. Rhys Moore put his new bow to good effect by adding 19 points to his. Karen Lott ,who has been in excellent form this season, not only added 31 points to her personal best score but also recorded the highest score of any Recurve archer on the day. Charlotte Harris, who is currently receiving fitness training at the Sports Institute, added 24 points to her pb and Danny Cowin added 4 to his. Colin Cain, shooting the round for the first time, posted a score which saw him shave three points off his handicap and take first place once the scores had been adjusted.

The Compound archers shot solidly, with Sarah Rigby recording the highest scratch score of the day.

Rob Lott elected to shoot a Portsmouth round, as did junior Toby Young who was competing on a Sunday for only the second time. As Rob did not shoot the round of the day and Toby has not yet established a handicap, neither of their scores could be included in the overall table.
