League 3

Duncan Lawrie Selborne B 14 Tynwald Celts A 4

Selborne B appear to have ended any relegation fears with this resounding win. At second mens, Selborne's reserve Chris Ewan and Ben Watterson took the honours 21/15, 21/15 over Tynwald Celts' reserve Adrian Slater and Dave Wilson. Second womens was long and hard fought before the away pair Heather Clague and Charmian McMorris shaded it 25/23, 19/21, 21/19 against Anita Griffiths and Felicia Gawne. Selborne’s Alan Ferguson and Paul Griffiths beat Mark Callow and Tom Long 21/16, 21/14, while first womens was another three gamer, won 16/21, 21/9, 21/19 by Tynwald/Celts mum and daughter pair Fiona and Bethany Callow against Julie McLean and Susie Stewart. All the mixed went to Selborne - closest Paul Griffiths and McLean, for Selborne, 21/5, 21/19 against Long and Clague at second, and Selborne’s Ferguson and Stewart 21/11, 21/17 versus Mark and Fiona Callow.  RM

League 4

RL360 Rushen B 7 Magee & Co Castletown/Abbey B 10

Unbeaten Castletown/Abbey were made to fight for their victory in this southern derby at Castle Rushen High School Sports Hall.  The only encounter to go to a third game was at second mens and was won by Castletown/Abbey’s Stu Lyon and Nick Thornley 18/21 21/6 21/18 against Adrian Edwards and Ricky Broadbent.  Lucy Kerr and Jo Lannon had a comfortable win at second womens for Rushen 21/9 21/13.  At first mens Castletown/Abbey’s Colin Kelly and Graham Coffey had a comfortable win 21/6 21/13.  Annie Haworth and Amanda Munro then won first womens in two games to give Rushen a narrow 5/4 lead after the level doubles. Victory in two games at fourth mixed for Rushen by Edwards and Kerr 21/19 21/14 against Thornley and Claire Townsend gave Rushen a good start to the mixed but it was Castletown/Abbey who took the remaining mixed, all in two games through Lyon and Hayley O’Meara, Coffey and Lisa Watterson and Kelly and Pim Charoenchai.  ER

Citywing Vikings A 239 Duncan Lawrie Selborne A 208

With Selborne having edged the win by four points just before Christmas Vikings were keen to reverse the score line this time. Yvonne Irvine and Emma Nicholson of Vikings  halved the games with Julie Thomas and Sarah Davidson closely followed by a win for Vikings Sam Irvine and Charlotte Dougherty 21/16 21/16 over Joyce Hall and Suzie Stewart.  Selborne won the next match courtesy of Thomas and Stewart 21/18 21/19 over Yvonne Irvine and Dougherty. Samantha Irvine and Nicholson were impressive in their first game winning 21/10 against Hall and Davidson before the Selborne pair pushed them all the way in the second game with the Vikings pair just winning 21/20.  Vikings quickly followed this up with a 21/11 21/12 win for Nicholson and Dougherty leaving Vikings with a 31 point advantage going into the last match.  This match was halved with Hall and Thomas taking the first game 21/19 before the Irvine sisters fought back well to take the second game 21/19 to give Vikings a much needed three points.
