People are being urged to come up with and stick to a budget to help ease the financial pressure of the New Year.
The Office of Fair Trading says many people are struggling to make ends meet this month because December payday, for many, was early.
It’s urging people not to ignore money problems and think about simple ‘belt tightening’ measures such as cancelling or reducing Sky or changing insurance providers.
A recent survey by the UK’s Money Advice Service found 8.8 million people in Britain consider themselves to have ‘serious’ financial issues.
