A local addiction charity says ‘it’s not surprising’ that older women drink more often than those aged between 16 and 24.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics suggest that women over 65 are drinking more regularly than those in their late teens and early 20s.
According to the survey, one in seven women aged 65 or over make up 14 per cent of people drinking five times a week – comparing to two per cent aged 16 to 24.
