Tonight's Heysham sailings cancelled

Severe gales forecast for later today have led to the cancellation of two ferry crossings.

The Douglas to Heysham at 7.45 pm and the overnight return at 2.15am are the affected sailings.

The strong winds could reach up to violent storm force 11 in some areas of the Irish Sea overnight.

The outlook for tomorrow morning isn't looking favourable for the Steam Packet either, with the 08.45 Douglas to Heysham sailing and the 14.15 return also in doubt.

An update on these will be released at 7.00 am tomorrow.
