Police say they’ll have teams out working late tonight as the seasonal crack-down on drink-drivers continues.
Of the nine arrests made so far, two people have been charged, three have been bailed and the other four released without charge.
Roads police say last year 19 people were arrested and 16 of those appeared in court.
They describe the latest figures as positive.
However it’s warned there’ll be patrols until the early hours and with the next available court sitting being on Friday, any 'chancers' risk having their Christmas dinner at Police Headquarters.
