League results for the week ending 13th December.

A very competitive match which could have gone either way after Fencibles started more brightly. Their Sarah Buss and Christine Houghton took second womens 21/16, 21/16 versus Gill Young and Renee Michalogiannis, while Selborne's Neil Keatings and Ray McMullen turned a very lengthy second mens around, winning 7/21, 29/27, 21/15 against Joe Burrows and Paul Flanders. First mens was also hotly contested, eventually won by Chris Bulley and Ben Moore 21/14, 26/28, 21/18 over Selborne's Neil McMullen and Jason Lee, while first womens also went to Fencibles through Phillipa Li and Megan Sands to leave the score 6-3 to Fencibles. Selborne did better in the mixed, with Keatings and Michalogiannis winning fourth 21/14, 19/21, 21/17 against Flanders and Houghton, and then Ray McMullen and Gill Young beat Fencibles Bulley and Buss 21/11, 21/8 at third. Both top mixed were good quality as Fencibles Burrows and Sands shaded it 22/20, 21/19 over Neil McMullen and Carol Kelly, before finally Selborne's Lee and Sue Young took first mixed 21/17, 6/21, 22/20.  RM

Marown C scored an impressive hard fought 12-6 home victory against Rushen B in their last fixture for 2013. For Rushen, Adrian Edwards and Amanda Munro top scored with three games each and for Marown, youngsters Jess Lloyd, Adam Pyatt-Coppell and the very impressive debutant Isla Thomas all won in straight games. Vikings Kevin Harding and Steve Allen came out all guns blazing to beat Gregg Harrison and Simon Fletcher 21/11 21/11.  Vikings won the next game 21/16 courtesy of Matthew Nicholson and Sam Mills before Chris Birch and Jonny Tickner fought back to take the second game 21/13.  St Ninians Harrison and Tickner combined well to win 21/16 21/9 before the next two matches were halved. With a narrow lead of three points going into the final match Vikings Nicholson and Harding made sure of the win with a 21/15 21/11 win over Birch and Harrison.  This result has left the league very finely balanced at the half way stage with just two points covering all four teams, CuPlas St Ninians have six points and Microgaming Marown, Duncan Lawrie Selborne and Citywing Vikings all on four points.  SN

The first game started the pattern for the night with Vikings Emma Nicholson and Charlotte Dougherty taking the first game of the night 21/20 against Joyce Hall and Sarah Davidson before the Selborne pairing won the second 21/16.  The only match that a team won both games was when Vikings Sam Irvine and Margaret Daughen beat Julie Thomas and Lisa Lewin 21/20 21/19.  The match continued with each team trading game for game with Selborne just edging the match by four points to win 235 to 231.
