The public health directorate is urging revellers to take it easy at Christmas and understand how many calories are being consumed.
Noble's community dietician says the festive season seemingly starts earlier every year and figures show that we consume an extra 500 calories a day more than we normally would.
In the average person, this equates to approximately 5lb of weight gain by the end of the month.
