The Deemster presiding over the trial of the Island’s Attorney General says the jury must not feel that it ‘failed’.
Yesterday the jury was dismissed after it was unable to reach a unanimous verdict in the case of Stephen Harding.
The Glen Vine man denies committing acts against public justice and perjury.
Deemster Birkett says it was not the first, and would not be the last, time this would happen and told jurors they should not leave the court thinking they hadn’t done their duty.
Mr Harding remains on bail while it’s decided if a retrial will take place.
