The jury in the trial of the Island’s Attorney General has failed to reach a unanimous verdict.
Deemster Birkett has today dismissed the seven-strong panel saying he had no alternative.
The jury had been deliberating the case against 52-year-old Stephen Harding since Wednesday.
He is charged with committing acts against public justice and perjury – which he denies.
However despite sitting since 10am this morning, and being offered more time to deliberate, the jury told the Deemster it was unable to come up with a verdict.
Mr Harding has been bailed – a decision will now be taken on whether he will be retried.
