Police are urging the public to have a ‘crime-free Christmas’.
The annual crime reduction campaign has started with the intention of encouraging people to take simple preventative measures over the festive period.
This includes things like keeping homes secure, presents hidden, telling a neighbour if you are away and being careful at parties.
Evidence shows crime doesn’t peak during the period but the majority of offences committed are opportunistic crimes.
