New legislation to strengthen the Island’s ability to combat bribery will be brought in next month.

The Bribery Act 2013 aims to improve international standards and stamp out corruption.

The main difference is the legislation is the introduction of a new offence.

A commercial organisation can now be prosecuted for failing to prevent a bribery offence anywhere in the world if it is for the benefit of the organisation.

Official guidance will be published to help businesses comply with the new legislation.
