The Isle of Man Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Worcester round as part of the Club’s Handicap league. The Worcester consists of 60 arrows shot at a black and white target, scoring from 5 down to 1. The score is then adjusted by handicap which allows everyone to compete on a level footing.
Sarah Rigby had shot a maximum score on the Worcester on her last three outings and expectations were high that she would repeat the feat. Sarah did not disappoint as she gave a master class in concentration and technique to score yet another maximum round. Several other compound archers hoping to emulate Sarah came agonisingly close but just fell short. Kirsten George hit a 4 with her first arrow and had to be content with a personal best score of 299. Older sister was on course for a maximum when she unfortunately lost a fletching 15 arrows from the end which meant that she too recorded 299. Dave Moore likewise had to be content with 299.
Of the other archers, Rhys Moore, Billy Lightfoot, Jack Tyrerand Josh Trafford all recorded personal best scores. Josh Trafford’s effort was good enough to take the win after the handicap had been applied. Colin Moore, Bradley Layton and Barbara Harris were sadly below par.
