The trip to Kirk Michael did not apparently cause concern for last year’s champions, the ten man Laxey team as the visitors won the match by fourteen points. Once again Kevin Quinn topped the Kirk Michael score board posting a 98 – a terrific improvement from last week’s 95 and Tom Lord maybe getting his mojo back with a 97! Both Harry Creevy and John Wood for the visitors, managed to hit full houses with Suzanne Curphey on 98. Laxey won all three Divisions on the night.
An excellent turn out of seventeen shooters for Port St Mary made the short trip to Castletown’s Stadium Range and came away with an excellent win in all three Divisions. The Castletown team had three shooters all on 97 – Lorrie Thompson, Nigel Christian and Chris Birtwhistle helping to record a team score of 481. It is great to see Derek Kermode topping the Port St Mary team with a 99 and let’s hope this is the first of many for the season. Harry Harrison was biting at Kermode’s heels with a 98.
An up-beat IoMSC Douglas team lost this week’s Division 1 match at Sinclair against IoMSC Sandsiders by a single point. Last week’s excellent score by the Douglas team could not be matched and the home team of Sandsiders were led by an excellent card from Richie Arthur with a 99, closely followed by last year’s Island Champion, Marion Jones, Bill Jones And Tony Kneale all posting 98’s. Leading the Douglas team Michael Duncalf recorded a 99, losing the single point on the last target with Mike Clague on 98 and a personal best result from fourteen year old Thomas Clague also finishing the evening with 98. IoMSC Sandsiders won all three Divisions.
Like IoMSC Douglas, Sulby Cossacks slipped somewhat this week recording a surprisingly low score of 470 compared to the previous week’s score of 485. The home team of Sulby managed to post an improving result of 482 – a little better than last week. Top shot for the senior squad went to Teddy Sayle on 98, just a single point ahead of Orry Teare and Peter Webb. Joint leaders on the Cossacks team were Fergus Coulter and Jess Clague on 95 with Jonathan Webb on 94. It is a tough sport when you consider Cossacks previous week’s score of 485 would have beaten the Sulby senior squad both this week and last week. A consolation win went to Cossacks in Division 3
