The Isle of Man Archery Club met on Sunday to shoot a Worcester round as part of the Club’s Handicap League. The Worcester consists of 60 arrows shot in groups of five with scoring zones ranging from 5 down to 1. The maximum score is therefore 300. This week’s round was a handicap which means the scores are adjusted according to the individual archer’s handicap. This allows all ages and genders to shoot against one another.
Last season, Sarah Rigby shot a maximum score in the Worcester and went on into the afternoon to shoot a double round, again scoring a maximum. This season was no different as she repeated the feat to record the highest unadjusted score of the day.
Eight archers recorded personal best scores. Billy Lightfoot added 3 points to his pb, Dave Moore added 7 points to his, Charlotte Harris added 16 to hers, Rob Lott added 24 points to his pb. It was eventual winner of the round Colin Cain who made the most progress adding a terrific 59 points to his personal best score. Danny Cowin, Josh Trafford and Jack Tyrer also recorded pb’s since they were shooting the round for the first time.
