Fishermen will no longer be allowed to fish for Queenies in Manx waters from tomorrow (Thursday).
The Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture is closing the fishery and bringing an end to the fishing season.
A total catch of 4,000 tonnes of Queenies has now been exceeded – the total amount allowed based on scientific evidence from Bangor University.
The department says the decision has been taken in order to conserve remaining stocks in preparation for next year’s fishing season.
This year exports of the local delicacy have raised around £3 million for the Manx economy.
