Feedback from the Landlord and Tenant Bill consultation has shown strong support for landlords complying to a set of minimum required standards.
The legislation would bring an end to below-par rental accommodation.
Detractors to the new legislation say it will only serve to create more bureaucracy for landlords.
The Department of Social Care refutes this claim saying the idea is to create a centralised register and ensure landlords stick to the set of minimum standards.
