Noble’s Hospital was given assistance from medical centres in the UK after a patient was infected with a rare form of CJD.
The Department of Health has confirmed it has treated an individual for sporadic CJD, which affects just one in a million people.
It’s the same virus that produces conditions like mad cow disease although this version is not infectious or a threat to the public.
