A working party is being established to look into how the Isle of Man can utilise its clean tech opportunities.
Representatives from government have visited the Isle of Wight to look at its ‘Eco Island’ initiative.
They were able to assess how things worked on the Island to determine if a similar project would work here.
Among the options discussed included freeing up more of the existing MEA generation to sell in the UK market, using abandoned mines to create heat pumps and laying cables from the Island to windfarms.
A business plan will now be developed and presented later this summer.
