People urged to keep campfires under control

The Fire and Rescue Service says some people are still causing problems by failing to keep campfires and barbecues under control.

Crews from Peel were called out on Saturday after a field in Patrick caught fire.

The large blaze was caused by a campfire being left unattended and the situation was worsened by firefighters having to struggle to access the rural area.

Community safety officer Roger Brown wants to reiterate recent advice about outdoor fires:
