Work to revamp Douglas Promenade will begin next week.
The first phase of the million pound plus project will start on Monday between Peveril Square and the site of the former Villiers Hotel on Loch Promenade.
Tynwald granted approval for the works earlier this month with the first stage due to take until May next year to complete.
The Department of Infrastructure says an extensive traffic management plan will be in place to keep traffic moving.
Minister David Cretney says the work is long overdue:
