A new shipping line which could rival the Steam Packet Company is bad news for the Island and could mean a rise in fares.
That’s according to the company chairman who has admitted he has concerns over the Ellan Vannin Line’s plans.
The new company has announced plans to set up a freight and passenger service between the Isle of Man, the UK and Ireland starting in the spring.
It’s not the first time the Steam Packet has faced competition – two years ago Mezeron launched a rival freight service.
