Privatising the Post Office is not on the agenda although the government has confirmed it is looking to see if corporatisation is an option.
Corporatisation was first recommended in the 2006 Scope of Government report and again in last year’s updated version.
A business case has now been presented to the Council of Ministers with the Post Office board saying it believes this would be the right direction for the future.
It would mean changing the Post Office from a statutory board of Tynwald to a limited company wholly owned by government.
