Hospice disappointed over Liverpool Care Pathway decision

Hospice says it’s disappointed that an end of life care plan, which recommends how to care for the dying, has been suspended.

A UK review has recommended that the Liverpool Care Pathway is phased out in the next six months to a year after a catalogue of failings.

Hospice and the Department of Health have worked in partnership to implement the plan on the Island – even employing a specialist Liverpool Care Pathway nurse to oversee it.

There's no evidence the plan has ever been used inappropriately here.

Chief executive Margaret Simpson says it is disappointing but that it provides an opportunity to review the way things are done:
