People have been warned against swimming in the Island’s quarries and reservoirs.
The Water and Sewerage Authority says taking a dip in inland waters is dangerous and prohibited.
The warning comes after emergency services in the UK have dealt with a number of incidents where people have got into difficulty in open water.
Whilst the still water may seem harmless the authority says it can be a killer and claim a life within minutes.
The main dangers include strong underwater currents, particularly if the water is being drawn off through the large pipes beneath the surface, and the temperature of the water.
