The Isle of Man will be monitoring moves being made in the UK to crack down on internet porn.
Prime Minister David Cameron is spearheading a drive for internet service providers to be forced to automatically filter inappropriate content and users would have to ‘opt-in’ if they want to view it.
The Island’s Communications Commission says the proposed new laws won’t automatically apply here but they’ll be looking at what’s going on and working with Manx ISPs.
They’ll be exploring the technical feasibility, approach and costs for network filtering on the Island.
The Commission adds that the UK’s ideas aren’t very detailed yet so it’s not had an opportunity to consider its actual policy on the issue.
