ICT students who choose to study on the Isle of Man could find themselves living in an eco-friendly pod.
The Manx Educational Foundation has revealed it’s looking at setting up a student village made up of wooden ‘Armadilla’ structures when it opens its Information Centre for Technology.
The pods cost £21,700 each and can sleep up to two people – they come equipped with beds, a desk area, storage, a wet room and even a kitchen sink.
They could also be let commercially out of term time as a way of generating revenue for the foundation.
Director Kurt Roosen says if the plans go ahead it could also benefit the Island’s economy:
