District offices where people can register births, marriages and deaths are to close over the next nine months.
Services are to be centralised at the General Registry buildings in Douglas.
The offices which will be closed are in Peel, Ramsey and Castletown.
The main idea is to modernise the service but it will also cut costs.
Despite the closures of the offices it will still be possible to hold civil marriage or partnership ceremonies anywhere on the Island.
