Douglas Council says it has reduced cigarette litter in the town by 90 per cent.
The council has attributed the success to a team of wardens who have targeted 12 litter hotspots since December last year.
A range of measures were implemented including relocating bins, cleaning, and liaising with smokers themselves.
Four of the hotspots have now been closed with four new sites set to be monitored.
Douglas Council says despite the success it won’t become complacent as it’s determined to drive out irresponsible and antisocial behaviour from the town.
