A nine year old boy has had a lucky escape from more serious injury after he fell from a car park and became impaled on a metal bar.
It happened in Westmoreland Road in Douglas on Friday evening.
The youngster had fallen around 12 feet and landed on a piece of 'rebar' that was sticking up from the ground. The metal pierced his leg.
Fire and rescue crews were called to the scene at around 8.30pm.
Paramedics were already there tending to the child but were unable to move him.
Rescuers cut through the metal to free the boy who was taken to hospital with a section of the bar still in his leg.
Although serious, his injuries aren't said to be life threatening,
