Plans have been unveiled which will see Lord Street Police closed and the site freed up for new development.
As Home Affairs struggles to make £2 million of extra savings it has identified that by adding a new custody block to police headquarters it will be able to move all operations out of Lord Street.
The majority of the savings will come from staffing cut backs however, whether that be natural wastage or enforced redundancy.
