Government is backing a proposed multi-million pound IT university in Douglas.
The project is headed by the charity Manx Educational Foundation and would ultimately see one of Europe’s leading ICT centres.
Plans would see the derelict Castle Mona on Douglas promenade transformed into a centre of excellence for 1,000 students.
The MEF estimates this would be worth up to £5million a year to the economy.
The charity must raise £2.5 million privately but the DED has already pledged £5million.
