The Treasury Minister has issued a stark warning to people who think they can get away without paying tax on their income saying there is no ‘hiding place’.
Questions about whether a black economy was existing within the construction industry were raised in the House of Keys earlier this week.
Eddie Teare said while he has not received any evidence of this it is only a matter of time before Treasury catches up with people who don’t declare income.
He added that within the construction industry in the last couple of years they had undertaken 37 compliance cases – 75 of which uncovered additional income of £2 million and tax of £397,000.
