Onchan Commissioners have taken a stance against the Department of Social Care’s plans to issue two-year tenancies and increase rent.
They have declined to impose the tenancy changes to Onchan residents as they’ve determined it is not in their best interests.
A board meeting earlier in the week saw a number of people voice their concerns about a recent spate of housing policies introduced by the department.
In a letter sent to the department commissioners outlined their concerns - particularly with the new points system for rents, which could see increases ranging from 3.5 per cent to 22.2 per cent.
They will now conduct their own review of the rental situation and say they have their tenants best interests in mind.
