Linkspan case settled out of court

Sat, 09 Mar 2013

A shipping company which began legal action in an attempt to stop the Steam Packet having sole use of the Douglas linkspan has dropped its case.

Seaside Shipping first brought a Petition of Doleance to court in 2007.

The company owned by the Barony Group sought to challenge the user agreement with the government which effectively gives the Steam Packet a monopoly on ‘roll on –roll off’ services.

The petition has now been dismissed by the consent of Seaside Shipping, which will now have to pay towards the legal costs of the Department of Infrastructure and the Steam Packet.

The case has been settled out of court with the terms and conditions being kept under wraps.

The DoI says it’s pleased the issue has now been resolved.
