A Douglas butcher says the recent horse meat scandal has proved fruitful for the Island’s meat industry.
A & J Quality Butchers has reported a 30 per cent increase in sales since the news broke that numerous beef products in the UK and Europe contained horse DNA.
The Manx government and local farmers have been highlighting the importance of buying local saying due to our stringent protocols this sort of scandal couldn’t affect Manx meat.
A & J director John O’Connell says although it’s good for business now the scandal could still have a negative effect by pushing prices up:
